The Program in brief

This course is designed to broaden the understanding of media beyond traditional uses and to introduce communication and technology as techniques in building public awareness, social behaviour change promotion and community empowerment.  Using UNESCO’s “Multi-media for Caribbean Communities” project as the framework, the course will outline and investigate the use of resources such as community radio and community multi-media centres as tools for empowerment and effective practical communication.

Students who complete the course will receive a certificate in Community Media from the initiative partners. The certificate is aimed at providing training to person interested in community media both in practice and in theory.

The course will be delivered online. The course does require participants to have any post-secondary or higher education qualification, however interested persons should have at least two years professional experience in the area of media and communication.
